According to the Classical Doctrines of Chinese medicine, the body has a continuous flow of energy that originates from all major organs and flows throughout the body via channels called meridians. When this flow is blocked or disturbed, pain or illness may occur. By manipulating acupuncture points on these meridians, the acupuncturist seeks to unblock the meridians and allow the continuous flow of energy.
